Airline Updates Cancellation feesm which previously ranged from $100 to $150 for most airlines now range from $150 to $200 and sometimes more.  American Airlines is now charging $15 each for the first bag checked.  This is in addition to the $25 for second bag checked.  Fees are not payable in advance - you must pay with cash or credit card upon check in. The U.S. will soon be placing total body scanners in ten major US airports. These scanners allow the security official to see everything under the passenger's clothing.  For more details, check out this article in USA Today. Check Your Documentation! Traveling outside the United States? Make sure you are up to date on all of the documentation requirements by visiting the U.S. Department of State website. Of course your travel planner can help with this as well but the State Department website is a great additional resource for travelers. If you are planning a trip anywhere outside of the U.S. (including Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean or Bermuda) and need to get a passport or renew your current one, build at least 6-8 weeks into your timeline for passport processing.
